Gina Thacker

A 23-year-old hard working woman decides to go to a bar, it would be the last time she ever did.

On April 7th, 2009, Gina Thacker finished a shift at Shoney's on Emory Toad in Tennessee, she then went home, off of Pedigo road, where she lived with her boyfriend.  Shortly after arriving home Gina decided to go to a bar/restaurant named "Spicy's". A waitress at Spicy's reported that Gina left around 2 am on April 8th, 2009.

2 hours later she would be murdered. Around 4am her car, a Toyota Corolla, was found in a front parking spot of Valley Oak Apartments off Valley View Drive. Inside the car was a lifeless Gina, she had been shot twice, the fatal shot being in her side.

Police believe she did not know anyone living at Valley Oak Apartments and based on her parking spot she was not meeting any who lived there. On the ground by the driver side, near the tire, was a green purse strap, that had been torn off the purse it belonged to. Gina's Purse, Cellphone and credit card were missing. They have never been recovered, and no activity has ever shown up.

Based off the evidence at the scene, the driver door of her car was open when she was shot. The fact the driver side window was still rolled up, helped with this.  There is a possibility of a passenger in Gina's car. The passenger seat was leaned back, and drug paraphernalia were found inside the car.

The days following officers had 30 or more Officers out in the area, knocking on doors and trying to find any other evidence, her purse, cellphone, anything that may tell them what happened. However, no witnesses came forward and there were not cameras at the apartment complex.  Police report collecting DNA from the killer at the scene, what is not clear.

I have no information if police spoke to her boyfriend, or anyone else at Spicy's.  There is little on this case. Almost 20 years later, no one has been charged.
